- The Fire Station was purpose built in 1904. The shop front was installed in the 1970's which replaced the original brick arches. It has since been a card shop, a fabric store and a carpet shop. The Cafe opened in January 2011 by a building enthusiast who has restored some of the building's identity
Richard Matthews
- In the late 60s early 70s, it was the home of the East Sussex Emergency Volunteers, a sort of follow on from the Civil Defense Corps, who trained to assist in a support capacity at any major incident, such as a plane crash at the then new Gatwick Airport, or a major fire/flood where they would provide welfare support to Emergency services and victims |
