- here in 1950. Closed 11/10/1955. Girvan has had a fire engine since 1939, but it has not had a fire station
- Before 1955, the fire station at Girvan was located in a sectioned off portion of a garage at Vicarton Street which was held on requisition. This arrangement had been unsatisfactory for two reasons – accommodation was too limited with no training facilities whatsoever; and secondly, the owner required the premises to be vacated since he desired to use the accommodation in connection with his business |
